    Success Stories

At Kindred Healthcare, our hard work and efforts are rewarded daily by the patients and residents we serve. Not only are we thanked in person on a regular basis, we receive countless letters, poems and artwork showing appreciation. This story is representative of many we receive. For letters received by this facility, contact the admissions director.

    From a Kindred Hospital Patient

"I’ve been in hospitals in West Virginia, Texas, Virginia, and New Mexico. Kindred Hospital puts them all to shame when it comes to all the caring personnel. The facilities are fine, but the people are what make the difference. I’m 88 years old, almost blind and crippled. I have never had finer treatment anywhere!"

    Carol: Bad Turned to Good

Carol, 69, had gone to a local physician for some routine outpatient testing. When the results came back the physician wanted Carol to go to Arizona Heart Hospital for an angiogram.

What was supposed to be a simple test turned into a prolonged stay. Carol had a stint and then suffered two heart attacks. Arizona Heart recommended that she come to Kindred Hospital Phoenix for extended acute care.

On June 6, Carol was admitted to Kindred and taken to the ICU. She was placed on a vent with an NG tube and Carol, who had smoked for fifty years, was diagnosed with COPD. She is now a confirmed non-smoker.

The turning point in Carol’s recovery came when the staff arranged for her to go on a different floor so that she could visit with her grandson. When she saw her two-year-old grandson, she was determined to recover.

"What happened that was so bad turned into something so good," Carol says now. She had a list of over twenty staff members that she wanted to thank personally. She was discharged on June 23.
